This special issue of the Revue de l’Institut Français du Pétrole (in English and French) is a collection of papers dedicated to organic geochemistry as applied to petroleum exploration. It has been published to celebrate the admission by Bernard Tissot, one of its pioneers, to the French Académie des Sciences. His quantitative approach opened the way to basin modelling, which today constitutes the reference tool for current exploration. The book begins with an English version of the paper, first published in 1969 in Revue de l’Institut Français du Pétrole, that established the bases of the petroleum geochemistry and of the basin modelling studies. Seven additional papers provide an overview of current research in the field. The book provides scientists in academia and industry with the methods and techniques for using geochemistry in the petroleum industry. |
