Review: This book deals with surface petroleum seismology: the acquisition techniques involving sources and receivers at the Earth’s surface. The book begins with a chapter on waves, the foundation of seismology. It goes on to look at the acquisition of seismic data (2d & 3D land acquisition, marine acquisition, financial aspects, survey predesign, land shooting geometry) and how to process the data to create seismic images. Methods of extracting the geologic information from the seismic data are then discussed.
