This book is a basic guide to the principles underlying the mechanisms of explosions that involve chemical explosives. Chapter 1 examines the history of explosives, including recent developments, and new sections on insensitive munitions and pollution prevention are also included. Chapter 2 provides a classification of explosive materials. Later chapters describe the thermodynamics and thermochemistry of explosions, the manufacture of explosives, and the final chapter provides an introduction to propellants and pyrotechnics. The book is aimed at A level students and new graduates who have not previously studied explosives. |
