Review: The eighteen chapters of this book are based on the Conference held in May 2000 in Australia. They are divided into two sections: ‘Managing wastes – implications of waste disposal to environmental quality’ and ‘Waste management technologies – case studies’. The first section looks at the impact of waste disposal to land, and gives an outline of the current knowledge of processes associated with contaminant sorption, transport and plant uptake. It also covers problems associated with, and future developments of, waste applications to land as well as other remediation and waste management strategies. The second section comprises seven case studies highlighting waste management technologies currently used in the Australasia-Pacific region.
