Mathematica has four main areas: graphics, symbolic calculation, numerical calculation, and programming. This book both introduces the novice to Mathematica and explains its use. There are sections on: housekeeping, graphics, expressions, programming, and mathematics; these include notebooks, inputs and outputs of Mathematica, reading and writing data, and saving memeory and computing time. Mathematica has high-quality graphics and six chapters are dedicated to the use of graphics in up to four-dimensional functions as well as graphics for data. The basic objects of Mathematica, namely expressions, are discussed in detail, as well as lists and matrices expressed as lists. The CD-ROM contains the entire book, the programs in the book, and some data that are used in the examples. |
