The authors of this book have designed tens of networks that currently form the backbone of high-performance computers, Internet routers, telecom circuit switches and I/O interconnect. These systems have been designed around a variety of topologies, including crossbars, tori, Clos networks, and butterflies. The book begins with a couple of introductory chapters covering interconnecting networks and describing a simple network in detail. The rest of the book is in five parts, dealing with topology, routing, flow control, router architecture, and performance. Each chapter includes a case study, providing real examples of what does and doesn’t work. |
