Pneumatic conveying is used for the transport of dry bulk particulate materials. Here dilute and dense phase conveying are discussed and a review is given of various positive pressure and vacuum systems. Methods of feeding materials into pipelines for high, low, and negative pressure systems are covered in detail. Stepped pipelines are also discussed, with a number of first-approximation design methods to use in feasibility studies. The issue of bends is also addressed. Chapters are devoted to specific types of industries: coal and ash; food and chemicals; aluminium; cement and drilling mud; and high-density materials. |
