These are the edited papers from the conference held in Perth in December 2003. They include mechatronics and machine applications in a number of disciplines: education, medicine, control, and wireless applications. Surgeons are using increasingly sophisticated robotic tools for assisting surgery and function monitoring; a number of papers describe such applications. The use of machine vision, not only for recognition, but also for visually based control is included. Robots are being developed for use on land, under water and in the air – a 2-m wingspan mechatronic bat is described. There is also a section on educating mechatronics students. |
