Review: Terramechanics is the physical mechanics of land locomotion. It concerns the interaction problems that occur between terrain and various kinds of mobile plant. This book explains the fundamentals mechanics of the vehicle–terrain interaction problem as it relates to the operation of construction and agricultural vehicles. It begins by explaining the mechanical properties of soil and snow materials and goes on to analyse the land locomotion mechanics of rigid-wheeled and flexible-tyred vehicles. The theory and practice of the mechanics of tracked vehicles are then described. The last chapter looks at robotized and un-manned vehicles for agriculture and construction.
