Review: This comprehensive book on ocean ecology provides an up-to-date introduction to the subject. The book is well illustrated with a large number of black-and-white diagrams, drawings and tables, and there is also a colour plate section. The text covers the pelagic, benthic and hydrothermal habitats and all the important groups of organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, phytoplankton, zooplankton, and deep-sea fauna.
