Review: The main advantage of solar-assisted air-conditioning is that cooling loads and solar gains occur simultaneously, at least on a seasonal level. Currently about 50 such systems have been installed. This handbook is the result of work carried out by experts in 11 countries in an International Energy Agency programme. The authors aim to encourage planners and potential users to install solar-assisted air-conditioning systems and give them the information that they need during the decision-making and design processes. They look at every part of the system in detail: components (the load sub-system, the cold production subsystem and the heat production sub-system); and systems (system configuration, design approaches, performance figures and design examples).
