This updated book, first published ten years ago, reflects the important developments in physics. The aim of the book is to present the essential concepts of physics, for undergraduates, in as simple a form as possible. There are new chapters on Bose7150;Einstein condensate; exploring nanostructures; and quantum computation and information. There are also chapters on: symmetry of nature; lasers and physics; superconductivity; chaos; bright stars and black holes; elementary particles and forces; and cosmology. The appendices explain the general concepts of classical and quantum physics, and thermal physics and statistical mechanics. |
