Review: This book, for practising engineers, discusses both industrial combustion, and the pollution caused by it. The book is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the basics of combustion and pollution emissions that are common in industrial applications. The second part introduces the concepts of pollution from industrial combustion systems and includes chapters on NOx, unburned hydrocarbons, SOx, particulates, noise and vibration, and other pollutants such as CO2, dioxins and furans, and thermal radiation. The last part describes pollution from specific applications of combustion and includes chapters on the production of metals (both ferrous and nonferrous), minerals (glass, cement and bricks), chemicals (including petrochemical applications), waste incineration, and other industries (e.g. paper, printing and foods).
