Review: This book provides an introduction to the modern theory of superconductivity and sets out an approach to the problem of high-temperature superconductivity, based on the extension of the BCS theory to the strong-coupling regime. The first part provides a description of the phenomenological approach to describe the behaviour of superconductors in an electrical field and goes on to chapters describing weak, intermediate and strong coupling theory. The second part covers applications to high-temperature superconductors, with chapters on competing interactions in unconventional superconductors; the normal state of cuprates; superconducting transition, and the superconducting state of cuprates.
