The book starts by defining ATIS and the nature and characteristics of ATIS technologies, such as sensors, telecommunications, data storage, and information processing technologies. This is followed by a discussion of the public- and private-sector objectives that form the basis for sector interest in participation in the application area. Eight possible configurations of publicprivate collaborations are looked at in detail. This involves data and information sharing across ITS applications and the authors provides an exposition on how to ensure the appropriate degree of coordination between such applications. Finally, they give some recommendations for future actions. |
