This report describes simulation techniques used in training personnel involved in accident management at nuclear power plants. Apart from the introduction, it comprises four sections and appendices. The sections cover: specific aspects of accident management and basic approaches in the development of an accident management programme and its implementation; the objectives of and requirements for accident management training and for the use of simulators; and various issues relating to the application of simulators in training, including computerized accident management support and virtual reality. The appendices give examples of existing simulator types and the status of simulators in nine countries. |
