These guidelines, prepared by the AUA Technical Committee, are for the underground construction industry. They aim to: help in minimizing misunderstandings related to back-filling and contact grouting terms and methods; improving the quality of both contract documents related to back-filling and contact grouting and the in-place material; reducing costs and schedule time; and avoiding or minimizing potential claims. The 20 specialist committee members came from a wide range of backgrounds and specialities within the construction industry. The guidelines look at: geological conditions, such as the soil, rock, groundwater and environmental conditions; the structural operational requirements of the completed facility; liner systems; grout materials and properties; backfilling; contact grouting; equipment; record keeping; quality control; and contract documents. |
