Review: Rather than present a list of simple rules for giving scientific presentations, this book looks at the styles of successful presenters, such as Boltzmann, Einstein, Feynman, Levi-Montalcini and Linus Pauling; at other presenters, such as Hertz, Oppenheimer and Chien-Shiung Wu, whose presentations were initially not so successful, but who improved with time; and at a third category of presenters, those who for some reason rarely gave presentations, such as Marie Curie who overcame stage fright, hostile audiences, and her husband’s untimely death, to communicate her work. The bulk of the book considers in detail ten critical errors that undermine the performance of the speaker, from giving the wrong speech to not preparing enough to not paying attention and loosing composure.
