These are some of the papers presented at the workshop held in Helsinki in December 2000. The authors begin by introducing fertilisers and their efficient use. These are important because mineral fertilisers, and the fertiliser industry in general, are important keys to the world food supplies. With a growth in world population and a growth of the world’s fertiliser industry, there is a challenge to improve efficiency, and minimise environmental pollution and energy consumption. There are chapters from authors from different countries and climates on individual crops, such as sweet cherries, strawberries, lettuce, cucumbers, onions, beans, mangoes, peppers, apricots, soursop, red beet, vines, carrots and thyme. |
