A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that continuously converts chemical energy into electrical energy (and some heat) for as long as fuel and oxidant are supplied. Here seven authors cover the topic. They first deal with the principles of fuel cell technology and narrate its history. After five decades, the technology has now reached a degree of maturity. The second part of the book deals with the application of fuel cell technology in automotives, and stationary and portable power stations, and reviews some competing technologies for transportation. Fuel cell analysis for considering emissions and energy use of a process from extraction of the raw material to motive power of a vehicle is also explained. |
