Review: This textbook incorporates methods that the authors have encountered over the years to teach undergraduate students statistics in an interesting and involving way. They include demonstrations, examples and project ideas as well as traditional statistics text, lectures, homework, quizzes and exams. The first part of the book examines probability and statistics and covers descriptive statistics, linear regression and correlation, data collection, statistical literacy and news media, probability, statistical inference, multiple regression and nonlinear models, and lying with statistics. More advanced chapters explain decision theory and Baysian statistics, student activities in survey sampling, problems and projects in probability, and directed projects in a mathematical statistics course.
