This book is designed for scientists and engineers to help them to solve problems involving uncertainty and/or probability. The first part of the book aims to bridge the gap between fuzzy logic and probability theory, representing both ‘sides’ and to lay out the foundations of both theories and provide fundamental principles for constructing the bridge. The second part of the book looks at applications, giving case studies in nine different fields, ranging from photography to signal validation. There are sufficient theory, examples, and references to fundamental work to provide firm ground for both engineers and scientists at undergraduate level and above. |
