To provide an efficient and environmentally friendly power supply network, without having to compromise on the reliability and quality of the electric supply network, a good knowledge of electromagnetic power supply transients is needed. Power station simulation can provide this knowledge. Electromagnetic transient programs are an essential part of the design of power apparatus and systems. This textbook describes the application of efficient computational techniques to the solution of electromagnetic transient problems in systems of any size and topology, with linear or non-linear components. The author looks at the different techniques that can be employed to simulate the electromagnetic transients associated with the various components within a power system network, setting up mathematical models and comparing different models for accuracy, computational needs etc. MATLAB code examples are given. |
