Comparison of different places is a traditional method of studying in geography, and it is commonly found in such fields as urban ecology and cultural land-geography. This book is the result of a summer workshop in Japan and Korea, held in 2000. The topics ranged from methodological/data-related issues to regional urban/rural land-use changes at various settings. They are divided into five sections: data and methods; urbanization; sustainability of rural land use; land reclamation and coastal change; and land-use in peripheral areas. |
