Review: These three volumes include the papers given at the conference on remediation of contaminated sediments, held in Venice in October 2001. The books are entitled: ‘Remediation and Beneficial Reuse of Contaminated Sediments; Management of Contaminated Sediments; and Characterization of Contaminated Sediments.’ The conference focused on freshwater and marine systems. It covered approaches for identifying and quantifying the fate and transport of contaminants, national and regional policies on sediment management and use of information, human health, risk assessment, dredging and disposals, treating and detoxifying sediments, and isolating and stabilizing contaminated sediments.
