This book is for undergraduates in the biological sciences who need to make analytical measurements. It begins with the basics of organising yourself to obtain useful analytical results and communicating with the researcher. It goes on to cover the sampling plan (identifying the basic question that they want the analysis to address), sample collection, and preparation. There is a look at quality control and basic equipment. The author goes on to explain how to plan your laboratory work, work and use weights and measures, make a solution from the samples (by acid digestion, dry-ashing or extraction), and determinations by atomic absorption and calorimetry. |
