These essays, in commemoration of John Bell (19281990), the quantum physicist, were given at a conference organized by the University of Vienna. They tell of his life and work in quantum mechanics, accelerator physics and field theory. The papers have been divided into subject areas: John S. Bell, the man; tests of Bell’s inequalities; quantum information; quantum ideas; quantum specials; and particles and fields. They lead the reader from the foundations of quantum mechanics to quantum entanglement, quantum cryptography, and quantum information. |
