For the last 50 years it has been known that fundamental particles, such as electrons and protons, have ‘left-handed, interactions. In this book the author puts forward the theory that for left#150;right symmetry to exist, there must be a new form of matter: mirror matter. This would enable the ‘left-handed’ particles to be balanced by right-handed mirror particles. Here, the author describes how we can determine whether mirror matter exists and puts forward the case for its existence. He presents evidence for the existence of invisible dark matter and mirror planets of nearby stars as well as mirror matter ‘space bodies’ – asteroid-sized bodies that frequently bombard the Earth. Microscopic forces that can couple ordinary mirror matter are also described. This is achieved through a ‘mixing’ of neutrinos, transforming them into mirror neutrinos, which effectively disappear. |
