Review: This book grew out of a series in a British magazine, Electronics World/Wireless World. RF circuits differ from other circuits because the values of stray or distributed capacitances and inductances become significant at RF. The author begins with signals and noise, which determine the appropriate design from component selection up to system level. It goes on to examine various types of RF circuits – in the order that a radio signal ‘sees’ them as it travels through a through a normal superhet receiver. The next part of the book deals with components (capacitors, inductors etc.), many of which can’t be bought ‘off the shelf’, so instructions are given on how to make them. The last part of the book looks at RF measurement and techniques.
