These are papers given at the symposium held in France. From space environmentalists can observe many phenomena such as atmospheric ozone depletion and global climate changes due to climatic factors, natural and man-made hazards and demographic influences. The papers presented here cover both theory and applications. They are grouped according to common themes, many related to natural hazards: atmospheric risks; land surface processes; ocean, ice and coastal zones; fires; sensors, systems and methods; natural hazards; monitoring water; health and risk-management strategies; and monitoring At present the European Space Agency is ready to launch ENVISAT, a space system for environmental monitoring and European laboratories are collaborating to monitor changes and find solutions to protect and improve life on Earth. |
