Review: This book is for airline personnel who have the responsibility for the design and management of training. It follows the process of designing training and courses for pilots and crew, with the aid of case studies. The author begins by discussing the need and role of training, with emphasis on the aviation industry. He starts by looking at identifying some workplace performance that training will help to achieve. He considers the component parts of the job performance and what the workers need to learn from training. Having identified this, a syllabus can be constructed. At the end of the training there is a choice of methods of testing to verify that the students on the course have met the desired standards and for the course-providers to obtain feedback The second half of the book looks at all these topics in detail: building the curriculum; measuring and validating the effectiveness of the training; project management; and quality management.
