Review: These are 30 of the papers given at the XVth ISMC symposium. They cover recent developments including many of the newer supporting technologies and discuss the specific problems encountered in predicting bioavailability characteristics. The papers are divided into nine sections, each covering a major theme. The new technologies for drug discovery section includes the design of macrocyclic peptidase inhibitors and the use of structural genomics and protein superfamilies in drug discovery. The next section on ion channels looked at ligand-gated ion channels as targets. This is followed by sections on glycine antagonists and 7TM receptors; growth factors; glycochemistry and glycobiology; intracellular signalling; protease inhibition; nitric oxide synthase inhibition; and predicting DMPK.
