Review: Food waste's high nutrient content makes it a potential animal feed. Any animal feeding problems relate primarily to animal health concerns, its content, and nutrient variability. Food waste with a high moisture content and inconsistent quality is difficult to dispose of. This book looks at the challenges of using both wet and/or processed food waste. The regulatory environment relating to food waste, the perspective of the end users, and practical use as animal feed is also discussed. The first five chapters look at the US regulations relating to food waste; the next three on the use of food waste as swine feed; and the last three on its use as ruminant feed.
