This is a collection of 59 papers on 3D displays published by the American Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. They span the last 168 years - from Charles Wheatsone's paper on 'the remarkable and hitherto unobserved, phenomena of binocular vision', through two-view systems such as stereoscopes; wavelength- time- and polarization multiplexed displays; autostereo displays; lenticular displays; to multiview systems that do not need viewer aids such as holography and holographic stereograms. Slice-stacking displays which present a succession of layers instead of a sweep of perspective views are also included. |
