These are the proceedings of the Conference on Tracers and Modelling, held in Liège in May 2000. The papers were given by specialists in many fields (chemists, hydrogeologists, hydrologists) as well as numerical geostatistical specialists who need data for model calibration, validation, conditional simulations, etc. The topics focused on the practical approaches to assessing groundwater quality, protection methods, solutions to contamination problems, and waste disposal impact studies, at different temporal and spatial scales. The book covers tracer studies and modelling of: dispersion, transport, existing contamination and protection measures; double porosity, macropores and fractured/karstified rocks; and regional groundwater systems. There are also sections on new tracer techniques for assessing reactive transport, organic contamination and natural attenuation, as well as studies of infiltration, recharge and hydrological processes in the unsaturated zone. |
