This publication contains papers on thermal-fluids and combustion topics pertaining to diesel engine modeling. These models play a valuable role in reducing the cost of engine design and development. Engine engineering can be improved by: developing a more complete understanding of the process being modelled; by identifying the key controlling variables so that experimental developments are less costly; and predicting engine behaviour over a wide range of design and operating variables.
The papers in this publication range from development of fundamental fluid flow models to more applied studies and include both zero - and multi-dimensional models. The models in this publication have been validated with measurements to a reasonable extent. Inspite of incomplete knowledge about all processes, models can be a key enabler in reducing the cost of designing engines. |
