Review: This collection of papers covers a wide area of technology: antilock braking systems; brake actuation systems; traction control systems and braking technology. There are a range of topics in the ABS/TCS session, from research analysis and modelling to actual road field data. There is still a need to improve the analytical work related to ABS/TCS systems and these tools should help develop better systems in a shorter time. The brake actuation session also covered many areas including: the development of a lower-cost version of 'brake-assist' types of boosters; a new method for modelling the clamping force of an electric calliper; and a method for predicting brake fluid temperatures and moisture content to warn drivers before a problem occurs. The foundation brake topics papers focus on the components and temperature effects on base brakes. The modelling and testing methods for brake noise and vibration provide methods of fixing current problems and preventing problems in the future.
