By the late 1980s it was possible to record that no passengers had been kille in any railway accidents. It is now 10 years since the accident at Clapham where 35 were killed and numerous others injured. In the decade since then what has happened to the concerns raised at the Public enquiry? Stanley Hall, a railwayman of many year's standing with a intimate knowledge of railway safety, discusses in detail the causes and consequnces of the railway accidents of the last decade. In so doing, he examines the implications for the railway industry of these accidents and how the lessons from them can be incorporated into the railway industry of the next century. |
