Review: This book, written with teenagers and non-scientists in mind, explains some of the ideas of modern physics and Einstein's Universe in a way that is understandable to any reader. Einstein revolutionised our view of the Universe by stating that nothing can travel faster than light. He went on to conclude that space and time must be linked together for ever, as Spacetime. He went on to show that Spacetime is warped and stretched by the gravity of all objects in the Universe and is even punctured by Black Holes. As the title suggests, the author discusses space (the fourth dimension, gravity, the size and shape of the universe, black holes), time (what is it, its direction) and time machines (wormholes to another world, building a time machine). The last chapter summarises our present knowledge of the Universe and considers how we are likely to make progress.
