DEKORP, the German continental reflection seismic program ran for 14 years, from 1984 to 1998. The seismic sections provided new insight into deep geological structure of the European continent formation. In the 1980s, it focused on deep seismic reflection profiling of the crystalline crust of the Variscan mountain belt, situated between the N. German Basin and the Alps. In 1989 DEKORP performed the first 3-D survey of deep crystalline crust worldwide, imaging the profound complexity of the site in Oberpfalz in S. Germany. The 17 papers in this volume are divide into sections: Seismic structure of the deep crust and mantle - reflectivity, anisotropy and scaling effects; New concepts of seismic migration and interpretation; and Seismic signal processing and velocity determination. |
