This book provides illustrations of Helmut Richter's work from 1966 to 1998 with text in both English and German. Richter's oevre, which is comprehensively presented here, is chacterised by a certain clarity and efficiency, undrestanding that arhcitecture is a risky and yet vital process of insight, but always experimenting with functional patterns and building design - continuously working at the limits of technology. Helmut Richter has lived in Vienna since 1991, where he is Professor of building design and construction at Vienna Technical University. The Brunner Strasse and Buchholz-Ost and Grundäcker housing developments, Tivoli Sport and Leisure Park, Secondary School of City of Vienna and Schärding Federal School Centre are all described and illustated in detail. |
