This book looks at how the study of personality can inform our understanding of psychological disorder. The authors begin by looking at how psychological disorders are classified and diagnosed and describe the principal theoretical model that lies behind the process. They go on to describe various competing dimensional theories and examine how they might help us to describe predispositions to disorders. Subsequent chapters look at specific disorders and groups of disorder: personality disorders; mood and anxiety disorders; obsessivecompulsive disorder; addictive behaviours; eating disorders; and psychotic disorders. |
