Review: This book discusses various aspects of the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD), which came into force in 1993.The CBD was originally formed to organise the disparate agreements on the protection of wildlife, but it has enlarged its remit and now addresses issues that include such areas as: ecosystem protection, the exploitation of genetic resources, conservation, justice, commerce, scientific knowledge, the allocation of rights and the imposition of responsibilities. This book looks at how the CBD has evolved, the problems that it has met and how it has dealt with them, to what extent the CBD has changed relations between societies, and how the CBD has enabled the founding of new norms and modified the power distribution among domestic and international stakeholders.
